Application Guidelines for Specific Crops

MycorrPlus is the new name for GroPAL Balance TM

Broadcast in a 20 gal./acre tank mix, or 40+ gal./acre if no rain is expected for a few days. A 10 gal./acre tank mix (or 3 gal. with a plane) may be used if within 24 hours rain or irrigation water carries it in, or if it is worked into the ground. MycorrPlus needs at least an inch of soil moisture before it will really take off in the soil. Organic growers, MycorrPlus-O may be used in place of MycorrPlus-A.

Herbicide or other chemical apps.

If an herbicide or other chemical application is needed, wait 3 or more days after the application and then apply 16 to 32 ounces of MycorrPlus-A per acre. If ongoing chemical applications are being made, you can apply 32 ounces of MycorrPlus-A per acre once a month. DO NOT apply MycorrPlus in the same tank mix as herbicides.

Pasture

MycorrPlus does a great job on pastures. Apply MycorrPlus-A or O once a year, any time of year. Standard application for pastures is 1 quart per acre. For quicker results, apply 64 ounces per acre.

Grass hay

Apply 1 to 2 quarts per acre of MycorrPlus-A or O. If nitrogen is needed the first year, it is best to use 28% or 32%, or manure. Along with a yearly soil application, for even better results apply 2 quarts per acre of MycorrPlus-F (MycorrPlus-O-F for organic) as a foliar application 7 to 10 days after cuttings.

Alfalfa

MycorrPlus is wonderful for strengthening the root structure and thickening up Alfalfa. Apply 1 to 2 quarts of MycorrPlus-A or O per acre. A great time to apply is in the fall, winter or spring.
- (optional foliar application) 10 to 15 days after each cutting (when there is sufficient leaf for a foliar application), apply 2 quarts per acre of MycorrPlus-F or O-F as a top-dress/foliar application.

Soybeans

MycorrPlus promotes a huge root structure, which can result in more pods and filled out pods. MycorrPlus is a world-class inoculant that can produce excellent nodulation; no other inoculant should be needed besides MycorrPlus. However, other inoculants may be mixed in with it if desired.

  • At planting, apply 1 quart of MycorrPlus-A or O either in the row, on the seed, or banded over the row, or broadcast 1 to 2 quarts per acre.
  • In the summer, fall or winter, broadcast a qt. per acre of MycorrPlus-A or O to prepare for the next year.

For increased yields, apply 2 quarts per acre of MycorrPlus-F foliar application (or 3 qts. O-F for organic) at flower. If the beans are looking good, you may want to apply a second foliar application 3 to 4 weeks later.

Corn

  • Apply 1 quart of MycorrPlus-A in the row, on the seed. Another quart may be side-dressed with 28% or 32% to stabilize it, then reduce your total N to 80 or 90 pounds for 200-bushel corn. If desired, you may mix a qt. of MycorrPlus-A in with other applications of 28% or 32% nitrogen to help bind it to the soil. This allows you to reduce the amount of N applied by 30%. Do NOT mix with phosphorus or potassium.
  • If desired, five to six weeks after planting, another quart of MycorrPlus-A may be applied to boost yields.
  • If using anhydrous ammonia, broadcast a quart MycorrPlus-A at least 2 weeks after putting on anhydrous to help reduce the negative effects of anhydrous ammonia on the soil.

A top-dress/foliar application of 2 qts. MycorrPlus-F or O-F may be put out at tassel with a 10 gal./acre tank mix. This can help increase test weight, protein, RFV and yields. O-F may be put out with a fast run of the sprinkler.

Winter wheat, spring wheat, small grains

Broadcast 1 to 2 qts. of MycorrPlus-A or O around planting time. Use just 1 qt./acre when applying with a drill or in the row. For winter wheat, if you want to apply it in the spring, then apply early spring. To boost yields, a top-dress/foliar application of 2 quarts MycorrPlus-F may be made at flag leaf (or 3 qts.  MycorrPlus-O-F for organic).

Cotton

  • Apply 1 quart MycorrPlus-A or O in-the-row, on-the-seed (in furrow) or broadcast 1 to 2 quarts.

Do NOT mix MycorrPlus-A with any chemical except 28% or 32% nitrogen; cut back 30% on the N.

  • For even better results, get things working well before planting by applying 1 to 2 quarts of MycorrPlus-A or O the summer, fall or winter before you plant cotton. This can help eliminate harmful nematodes, salts, fungus, mold, mildew, rot and plant toxins in the soil so the soil is ready at planting time.

For increased yields, the following applications may be made during the growing season.

  • To give more energy for fruiting, apply a qt. of MycorrPlus-A 5 to 6 weeks after planting.
  • For a larger boll set, a 2 quart per acre top-dress/foliar application of MycorrPlus-F (3 quarts O-F for organic) may be made just as the plant is beginning to set bolls.
MycorrPlus-F may be mixed with an herbicide if needed.

Peanuts

  • Apply 1 quart MycorrPlus-A or O in-the-row, on-the-seed (in furrow) or broadcast 2 quarts.

Do NOT mix MycorrPlus-A with any chemical except 28% or 32% nitrogen.

For increased yields, a foliar application of 2 quarts of MycorrPlus-F may be made every 4 weeks during the growing season.

  • If chemical applications are being made, apply a quart of MycorrPlus-A each month in place of MycorrPlus-F foliar application.

Although MycorrPlus may be mixed with an inoculant, MycorrPlus is a world-class inoculant that can produce excellent nodulation, so MycorrPlus should be the only inoculant you need.

Potatoes, sugar beets, rutabaga, other root crops

In the fall, winter or early spring, apply 2 quarts of MycorrPlus-A to help prepare the soil for a good crop.
Apply a qt. in-the-row, or broadcast 1 to 2 quarts around planting, and/or after an herbicide application.

Fruit and nut trees

In the summer or fall, broadcast 1 to 2 quarts per acre of MycorrPlus-A to an area twice the diameter of the tree. For best results, get out the first application as soon as possible, any time of year that the ground is not frozen. The sooner it is applied, the sooner it can go to work transforming the soil.

In the spring, once the tree has some good leaf coverage, apply one or more foliar applications of MycorrPlus-F. Apply 2 qts. per acre with a 20 gallon/acre tank mix. Use MycorrPlus-O-F for tank mixes over 20 gal./acre. When 4 or more foliar applications are planned, divide up to 2 gallons of MycorrPlus-F by the number of applications.

Grape vines

MycorrPlus can be very helpful for maintaining neutral soil pH. Apply 2 quarts of MycorrPlus-A per acre (1 ounce for every 600 sq. ft.) This application may be made in the fall or early spring. In the spring, once the vines have some good leaf coverage, one or more foliar applications of MycorrPlus-F may be made. Apply 2 quarts per acre per application. If 4 or more foliar applications are desired, divide up to 2 gallons of MycorrPlus-F by the number of desired applications.

Sod farms

MycorrPlus-A works quite well to increase root structure and thicken up grass. Once the sod has been harvested, apply 2 quarts MycorrPlus-A to the soil. If desired, apply another 32 ounces of MycorrPlus-A each month.

Blueberries and other acid loving plants

MycorrPlus helps to balance pH, so at this time we are not recommending it be used for acid loving plants.

A, O, F, & OF

Application Guidelines for Specific Crops

MycorrPlus is the new name for GroPAL Balance TM

Please loosen the lid of MycorrPlus right away to allow it to vent, to prevent the build-up of pressure.

Do not store in direct sunlight. Store below 120o F. and preferably below 100o F.

MycorrPlus-A and MycorrPlus-O (for organic use) are for the soil, not the leaf. Their strength lies in their ability to transform the soil. For best results, don’t consider MycorrPlus foliar until you have utilized a full 64 ounces of MycorrPlus-A or MycorrPlus-O. Apply MycorrPlus by itself, or with fish, kelp, 28% or 32%. Add MycorrPlus to tank first. Add water before adding fish or kelp. Always jar test.

MycorrPlus-A or O may be applied spring, summer, fall or winter

  • An early or late spring application can help improve that year’s crop. Apply ASAP to get it working.
  • A summer application can raise nutrients in the plant and get the soil transformation process started.
  • A fall application will allow -to improve the soil throughout the fall and early spring.
  • A winter application works well as long as moisture is able to soak into the ground. A strength of a winter application is that most all of the ultra violet rays of the sun are blocked by the atmosphere.

The amount of MycorrPlus that can safely be applied
It is almost impossible to hurt the soil by over-applying MycorrPlus. However, applying more than a gallon/acre in one application may possibly burn the leaves of the plant.

Overcoming application difficulties

  1. Ultra-violet rays of the sun

Although MycorrPlus contains zinc that acts like a sunscreen to protect its microbes from the sun, precautions should still be put into place. Here are ways to protect MycorrPlus microbes.

  • If you will be plowing no deeper than 6 inches or discing the soil, apply MycorrPlus just before the last time you work the soil. You may also chisel it in to help it interact with the soil.
  • If cultivating, apply MycorrPlus, then cultivate.
  • Applying in-the-row, on-the-seed/in furrow will hide MycorrPlus from the sun – use usual tank mix.
  • If you are only set up to side dress, you can add 2 qt./acre MycorrPlus-A in with your 28% or 32%.
  1. Getting it off the leaf, down to the soil

MycorrPlus must reach the soil to transform the soil. If not worked in, it must be watered in. Once it gets to the soil, just over an inch of moisture is needed to get the formula really working.

  • If no rain is predicted within a week, use a 40 or more gallon/acre tank mix to get it out of the sun and down to the soil. If watered in within a few days, you can use 20 gallons/acre. If watered in right away, a 3 gallon per acre with the plane or 10 gallon per acre with the spray rig will do.
  • May be applied with irrigation. Can be put through a drip line if any fungus is screened off first.
  • Add to manure or lagoon water and allow it to work then spread manure or apply lagoon water.
  1. Bare ground dries out the soil, exposes microbes to the sun

It really helps to keep the soil covered. For exposed soil, the sun dries out the soil, plus it kills microbes that are closer to the surface.

  • Crop litter and trampled forage work well to help protect the soil from the sun.
  • Cover crops not only shelter the soil, but with MycorrPlus, they sequester sugars, building organic matter in the soil.

Phosphorus, potassium and MycorrPlus

The average acre of farmland has 4,500 lbs. of tied up phosphorus, plus a major component of clay is potassium. The microbes in MycorrPlus help to make these available to the plant, which can save farmers a LOT on fertilizer. Potash may be needed for some vegetables, or for other crops where potassium levels are low in the region.

In most cases, when MycorrPlus is active in the soil, no additional phosphorus should be needed, even for corn. Normally phosphorus is not mobile in the soil, but mycorrhizal fungi in MycorrPlus are able to transport phosphorus from deep in the soil back to the roots. Soil tests are normally only done for the top layer of the soil, but for most soils, mycorrhizae are bringing nutrients from far deeper than 6”. Therefore, a tissue analysis is the best way to verify that the plant has plenty of phosphorus, potassium and other nutrients.

Nitrogen applications

MycorrPlus contains nitrogen-fixing bacteria, but it takes 4 to 5 months for them to really start working. If you normally apply nitrogen, some N may be needed until the nitrogen-fixing bacteria have a chance to really kick in.

For corn and other crops that require a lot of N, you may need some nitrogen each year. MycorrPlus helps to hold nitrogen and keep it from wicking off, leaching out or getting tied up. When a fall, winter or early spring application of MycorrPlus has been put out, or when it is mixed in with 28% or 32%, most farmers can cut back on nitrogen 30% the first year, and more the second year. Anhydrous ammonia is very hard on the soil. To help overcome this, apply a quart of MycorrPlus-A two weeks or more after applying anhydrous ammonia.

Herbicides and MycorrPlus

  • Herbicides damage soil life and soil balance. However, you can easily overcome this damage and still get great results. Just apply 16 to 32 oz./acre of MycorrPlus-A 3 or more days after a herbicide application to break down the herbicide and help restore balance to the soil.
  • To allow pre-emergent herbicides some time to work, wait three or more weeks to apply MycorrPlus-A.
MycorrPlus will break down the herbicide, so waiting 3 or more weeks will give the herbicide time to work before breaking it down. Then apply a 32 oz. of MycorrPlus-A to help restore soil balance.

Timing of applications

Most of the time, when putting out the first-ever application of MycorrPlus, it is best to apply it as soon as possible so it can start its work of transforming the soil. Here are a couple of exceptions:

  • If you will be sowing seed in less than a month, it is probably best to wait and apply over the seed. MycorrPlus is a great germinator, so we want to take advantage of this strength.
  • If in a month or less you will be discing the soil, you may want to wait and apply it right before working the soil. For non-organic growers, don’t till it in deeper than 2” deep. Organic growers may till it in 6”.
  • If within a few weeks of proposed application time you will be applying a burn-down herbicide, you might want to wait until 3 days or more after that application, then apply the MycorrPlus-A.

MycorrPlus Foliar Application Rate Guidelines

MycorrPlus-F and O-F Foliar / Top Dress Fertilizer

Bucket price:  Two quarts/acre of F is $18/acre, and 3 quarts/acre of O-F is $23.10/acre.

  • One or more applications of MycorrPlus foliar may help increase yields, plus help to increase protein, test weights and relative feed value. Try to apply MycorrPlus foliar mornings or evenings when the temperature is below 80 to 85 degrees so plant stomata are open.
  • Foliar applications may be helpful for hay, row crops, fruits, vegetables or fruit or nut trees. MycorrPlus-F (not MycorrPlus-A) may be applied with herbicides, but consider cutting herbicides back 15%.
  • Use a 10 gal./acre tank mix, or use 3+ gal./acre with a plane.
  • MycorrPlus-O-F (not F) may be put on with the sprinkler by running it fast enough to keep most of the water on the leaf. MycorrPlus-F has a surfactant that is simply thinned down too much to use with the sprinkler.

MycorrPlus-F or O-F are best applied at fruit set; it may also be applied when the plant is beginning to flower.

MycorrPlus-A or O applications for areas smaller than an acre

One teaspoon of MycorrPlus-A is perfect for 100 square feet in a gallon or more of water.
May be applied with a watering can or a hose end sprayer. For a pump-up sprayer, add 1 tsp. per quart of water.

For Corn

Application Guidelines

MycorrPlus is the new name for GroPAL Balance TM

As MycorrPlus transforms the soil, it can help you in the following ways:

  • Increased yields, as much as 10% to 20% or more
  • Higher test weights and protein
  • Larger root mass for improved nutrient uptake
  • Establishment of mycorrhizal fungi networks, which transport phosphorus, moisture and other nutrients back to the roots
  • Better seed germination
  • Increase fertilizer uptake efficiency by keeping nutrients from getting tied up in the soil
  • Help stabilize nitrogen so it doesn’t wick off or leach out
  • Eliminate compaction by highly structuring the soil
  • Help to retain moisture in the soil by highly structuring the soil for better drought tolerance
  • Make the soil less friendly for weeds, resulting in less weed pressure
  • Increase plant health, resulting in increased disease and pest immunity
  • Flush salts from the root zone
  • Increase organic matter year after year, which increases Cation Exchange Capacity
  • Helps to balance pH in the soil
  • Increased Relative Feed Value
  • Greatly multiply earthworms

MycorrPlus is a highly concentrated bio-stimulant that can help with all of the above. The more aggressively you transform your soil, the more quickly you can see the above benefits. Here are your application options for corn.

Entry Level application

If you will only be making one application of MycorrPlus, do one of the following:

1 qt./acre of MycorrPlus-A in the row, on the seed or banded over the row.

If this is not an option but side-dressing is, side-dress 1 to 2 quarts with or without 28% or 32% nitrogen. Consider decreasing N to 80 to 90 lbs. to grow 200 bushel of corn.

If you can’t do one of the above methods, broadcast 1 to 2 qts./acre at or before planting.

Secondary applications you can choose from

If you want to do more than the entry level application, do one or more of the following:

  1. If not doing so already, add a pint to a quart to each application of 28% or 32%, then cut back on your N by 30% or more.
  2. Apply 1 qt. MycorrPlus-A 5 wks. after planting, or apply F or O-F around tassel.
  3. Apply 1 to 2 qts. the summer, fall, winter before planting to begin the soil transform process. (Apply 2 or more wks. after applying anhydrous ammonia.)

Why use MycorrPlus for corn?

MycorrPlus contains 70+ strains of aerobic bacteria, plus 4 strains of mycorrhizal fungi. Our microbes highly structure the soil, taking out compaction and hardpan, while improving moisture retention.

  1. When MycorrPlus-A is mixed with liquid nitrogen, it helps to bind it to the soil so that it doesn't leach out or wick off. Adding it to your 28% or 32% gives you the option of cutting back to 80# to 90# to grow 200 bushel of corn. Please add MycorrPlus to the tank first, then add your 28% or 32%. Do not mix with 10-34-0.
  2. The best way to save on fertilizer is to fully utilize microorganisms in the soil. Our microbes help to free up phosphorus and potassium and other nutrients already deep within the soil, and transport them back to the roots. If you apply MycorrPlus at or before planting, in most cases you will not have to put out P or K. You save a ton on fertilizer! NEVER mix MycorrPlus with P or K, as it may cause it to gel in the tank.
  3. MycorrPlus helps to remove compaction and hardpan. The microbes use the sugars secreted by the plant as gums and glues to bind soil particles together, creating air spaces and bringing structure to the soil, helping to eliminate compaction and hardpan.
  4. MycorrPlus contains nitrogen-fixing bacteria. Close to 80% of the air we breathe is nitrogen. As MycorrPlus opens the way for air to flow down into the soil, the nitrogen-fixing bacteria contained in MycorrPlus help to fix that nitrogen into the soil. Then other microbes make it available to the plant.
It takes 4 or 5 months for this to begin making a substantial difference. The deeper MycorrPlus structures the soil, the more nitrogen it can fix in the soil.
  5. MycorrPlus also helps to stabilize nitrogen so it doesn’t wick off or leach out. This is one of the reasons why it takes less N to grow a bushel of corn.
  6. Our bacteria help to break down the chemicals and toxins that inhibit beneficial microbes.
  7. Our bacteria remediate salts that inhibit soil life, flushing them out of the root zone.
  8. The soil becomes more of an ideal growing environment, as aerobic bacteria, mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial nematodes displace anaerobic bacteria and root-eating nematodes.

MycorrPlus contains the following:

  • GroPal, a sea mineral concentrate
  • Humic and fulvic acids
  • Fish and kelp
  • 70+ strains of aerobic bacteria
  • 4 strains of mycorrhizal fungi
  • Molasses

For Soybeans

Application Guidelines

Entry level application

If you will only be making one application of MycorrPlus, apply one quart in one of the following ways:

  • In the row, on the seed (in furrow) in place of pop-up
  • Band over the row
  • Side-dress 2x2 if you can't go in the row or band it
  • If none of the above are possible, broadcast the quart application preferably a month or more before planting

Secondary applications

If you want to do more than the entry level application, do one or more of the following:

  • Apply a top-dress/foliar application of two quarts MycorrPlus-F with a 10 gallon per acre tank mix once the field is in full flower.
  • Apply a second foliar application 3 to 4 weeks after the first foliar application.
  • Or, apply a quart soil application of MycorrPlus-A at flowering to give the plant additional help in transitioning from vegetative growth to fruiting.

MycorrPlus is a great inoculant that helps to facilitate superior nodulation of beans and other legumes.

Never mix MycorrPlus with phosphorus or potassium. We advise that MycorrPlus not be mixed with any chemical fertilizer, with the exception of liquid nitrogen.

MycorrPlus is very well balanced, containing the following:

  • GroPal, a low sodium sea mineral concentrate
  • Humic and fulvic acids, fish and kelp
  • 70+ strains of aerobic bacteria, and 4 strains of mycorrhizal fungi
  • Molasses

Why Use MycorrPlus for beans?

MycorrPlus contains 70+ strains of aerobic bacteria, plus 4 strains of mycorrhizal fungi. Our microbes highly structure the soil, taking out compaction and hardpan, while improving moisture retention.

  1. MycorrPlus is compatible with other inoculants. However, MycorrPlus is a world-class inoculant that can produce excellent nodulation; no other inoculant should be needed besides MycorrPlus.
  2. The best way to save on fertilizer is to fully utilize microorganisms in the soil. Our microbes help to free up phosphorus and potassium already in the soil. As more P and K become available in your soil, a soil test will reveal just how little phosphorus and potassium is still needed. You save a ton on fertilizer!
  3. MycorrPlus helps remove compaction and hardpan.
As MycorrPlus opens the way for air to flow down into the soil, the nitrogen-fixing bacteria contained in MycorrPlus help fix that nitrogen into the soil. Then other microbes make it available to the plant.
It takes 4 or 5 months for this to begin making a substantial difference. The deeper MycorrPlus structures the soil, the more nitrogen is produced.
  5. Our bacteria break down the chemicals and toxins that inhibit beneficial microbes.
  6. Our bacteria remediate salts that inhibit soil life, flushing them away from the root zone.
  7. The soil becomes an ideal growing environment, as aerobic bacteria, fungi and beneficial nematodes displace anaerobic bacteria and root-eating nematodes.

MycorrPlus also helps with the following:

  • Quickly builds organic matter in the soil
  • Accelerates seed germination
  • Helps balance nutrients in the soil
  • Helps balance pH by balancing nutrients in the soil
  • Increased Cation Exchange means it benefits next year's crops, too
  • Increased nutrients in crops and forage
  • Greater nutrient density means healthier livestock
